Hammered Iron Pan 鉄のフライパン

A little happiness for my family. 

とてもささやかなことなのですが、鉄のフライパンを買いました。

We got a hammered iron pan.

The last one was an aluminum pan with surface work done. It was not bad, but the surface work had become chipped as time goes by.

以前使っていたのは、表面加工を施されたアルミのフライパン。

それもなかなか良かったのですが、やはり回数を重ねるごとに加工が剥がれ、どうにもこうにも。それでも数年使ったので、寿命以上に働いてくれました。

The iron pan needs to be well prepared before using for the first time. It's called "Narashi" in Japanese.

Rinced pan with hot water well and heat well until it is completely dried.

お湯でよくすすいだあと、空焼きして水分を飛ばして

Put oil in and heat it 

油を敷いてしっかり熱して

Stir fry some veggie wastes in it.

野菜くずを炒めて

Well done!

準備万端ですー！

The first thing we made with the pan was...

Over cooked pan cakes of rice flour.

まず作ったのは、焦げた米粉パンケーキ（苦笑）

Our breakfast plate were ready, showing scarcely not burnt too much side up.

焦げの少ない面を上にして…

Well, we need to find out how the heat affects the pan more by using it many times.

Also we need to get used to its weight, 

1.375kgs!

たくさん使って、火の周り具合を早く掴まないと。いつまでも焦がしてしまう訳にはいきません。

あとは、その重さに慣れなくちゃ！

1.375キロ！重いよ〜

Happy lunar new year and my new year resolution 旧暦正月お祝いと抱負

新年快楽！

Happy lunar new year!

本日旧暦正月です。

ようやく本格的に甲辰の年が始まりました。

Now we're going deeply into 2024, year of Kinoe(Yang of wood)-Tatsu(dragon).

"Kinoe" is the first celestial stems which means "wood" of the five elements in Yin Yang theory.

甲（きのえ）は、陰陽五行説の木火土金水（もっかどごんすい）の『木』の『陽』。

この、甲と辰が一緒になる甲辰（きのえたつ）の年は、成功の芽がすくすくと伸びてゆくのだそうですよ。

木も龍も、上に向かって伸びて（昇って）行く性質がありますものね。

Both "Kinoe" and "Dragon" have the nature of going upwards in common which indicates a successful future!

It was since I started learning Yakuzen, the Chinese herbal cooking based on the Yin-Yang method that I got conscious about that method.

So I studied Yakuzen seriously and passed the international exam run by a Chinese Yakuzen association last year!

そんなことを意識するようになったのは、実は、薬膳を勉強し始めてからです。薬膳は陰陽五行に基づいて考えられており、通っていた学校の授業でも、陰陽五行説をしっかり教わりました。

学校に通ったのは一昨年のことで、実は去年の春、試験に合格しました！

This is not the final goal though it was actually an end of the first stage.

I want to learn more, deeper and in detail. I will move on to the next chapter and start learning again someday.

If possible, I want to restart within this Kinoe-Tatsu year but I'm on a tight budget now...

試験に合格してひと段落はしたものの。

もっと知りたい、もっと勉強したい、という気持ちが湧いてきて止まりません。

今すぐはないですが、数年のうちに勉強を再開して、学びを深めたいと思っています。

甲辰の年に再開したい気もありますが、まずは先立つものが必要…汗

By the way, the ID photo in the picture above is me, but totally different from actual myself! I wore too much makeup on at the time of shooting, haha!

ところで、証書の写真ですが、私の写真であって私ではありません…

撮影の時、メイク付きのスタジオで取ってもらって、しっかりメイクしてもらったら、別人が写っていました（苦笑）

まぁ、この証書を使って何かをすることもないですし、大丈夫でしょう！

Check up with a Chinese medicine doctor 漢方内科へ

I visited to see a Chinese medicine today.

今日は漢方内科の通院日でした。

And I got blood work done to see if those Chinese herbal medicines had worked well or bad.

The results will be informed in a couple of weeks. 

今日は採血もあって。

漢方薬が身体に悪さをしていないかを調べるために必要なのですが、注射が大の苦手…終わると力が抜けております。

無事に終わってホッ。

結果は数週間後。

何も見つかりませんように。

I got my appointment with the doctor after my job done at six pm. When I left the doctor's office at eight pm I was completely exhausted and starving because I had not eaten anything after my tiny tiny lunch.

So I decided to eat out before going home and I asked my husband to eat what he wanted from the fridge.

And this is what I had tonight.

ところで、採血の日は午後から何も食べられません。

胃が小さいので、お弁当は幼稚園児かというほどの子どもサイズ…

漢方内科の予約は仕事の後、七時頃に取っていたので、診察が終わった八時過ぎ、そりゃもう空腹で！！

採血がなくても普通に腹ペコな時間。

外食して帰ることにしました。

夫さんには冷蔵庫のものを適当に食べてもらうことにして。

と書きましたが、漢方内科の帰りは、だいたいここで食べて帰るのですが（笑）

このチキンライスプレートがお気に入りで、つい、ここに寄ってしまいます。

全部は食べきれないので残しちゃうのだけど。

可愛い箸袋も合わせて載せておきます。

My kimono style on Setsubun day 節分の日の着録

Almost forgot to keep the record of my kimono on Feb. 3.

節分の着録をすっかり忘れておりました。

水色に様々な色が混ざった、不思議な模様の訪問着。

そう、実はこれ、訪問着なのです。

絵羽模様かと問われたら、私には判別不能な、まるで色無地のような着物なのですが、買う時にお店の方に訪問着だと言われたので、きっと訪問着。

訪問着としてはとても軽めの地味なものなので、礼装として着るより、お洒落着として着る方が合いますね。

とはいえ、ずっしりした縮緬生地はさすが訪問着です。

たまにこういう『よそいき』を着ると気分のいいものです。

（重くて着にくいけどね）

Sky blue with light dustings of various colors. It's a Homon-gi, a formal kimono.

But I do wear this kimono for daily use with a Nagoya-obi (single Otaiko).

The main design of Otaiko is a winter scenery in which some kids are playing around in the snow and some are in a snow dome watching their friends.

I picked this obi because it was the coldest season in a year. 
And the other reason is... doesn't it look like the kids are scattering soy beans in the air? Just like a Setsubun ritual.

帯は、かまくらの前で童たちが遊ぶ様子を描いています。

…が。

これは豆まき！

豆まきの風景なのよ！

と言い聞かせて締めました。

出来れば大寒の入りあたりに締めたかった帯ではありますが、ぎりぎり立春になる前に滑り込みで。

年に一度は使いたい帯なのです。

着物は衿のあたりの汚れが気になりはじめました。春になったら洗いに出しましょう。

A drugstore just in front of Yasaka shrine which dosen't look like it.

八坂さんの前（西側です）にあるツルハドラッグ。やはり京風ですね。

お昼ご飯はこちらで！四条に来るたび気になっていた老舗レストラン。

友人たちと来たり、一人で来た時には勇気？が出ず、それでも一度入ってみたかった気持ちを夫さんにぶつけたらOKが出たので、初めて入ってみましたー！

This is the histrical restaurant which has been registered as a cultural heritage.

I wanted to have lunch at this restaurant! 

この右側に１階ホールがあり、観光客でいっぱいでした。

My husband had a ”Oriental-style Pork cutlet" and I had a ”Duck hamburger stake”.

Not bad!!

夫さんはポークカツレツ、私は鴨バーグにしました。

鴨バーグのソース、お味噌の風味がして美味しかった＾＾

とはいっても、今回で念願かなって満足したので、まぁ、二回目はなくてもいいかな。

And these are what we brought back from the museum.

Yatsuhashi (Japanese style cinnamon cookies) and a Tenugui-towel with Shinkansen design.

Cookies are gone already! We love Yatsuhashi cookies:) 

鉄道博物館の八つ橋と手ぬぐい。

八つ橋は、もうすっかり食べてしまいました。

手ぬぐいはもったいなくてまだおろしていません。

以上、大人の遠足の記録でした。

So, this is all about our one day trip to Kyoto. That was fun!

Kyoto Railway Museum ② 京都鉄道博物館へ 其の二

There are some more pictures from Kyoto Railway Museum I want to share with you here.

鉄道博物館の写真、もう少し載せたいのがあるのです。

懐かしい新幹線！修学旅行で初めて乗ったのがこれだった気がします。

"Zero series Shinkansen", the bullet train from good old days.

I remember that school kids of our age took this type of Shinkansen on school trip to Tokyo in 80s and 90s.

Another nostargic train "Kuroshio" which run through Osaka and Wakayama, from Tennoji to Shingu.(Now it runs from Kyoto to Shingu.)

Kuroshio is named after the black(=kuro)  tide(=shio) which flows along the Japan coast. 

昔のくろしお。ちょっと「ヤッターワン」に似てると思うのは我々世代だけですかね。

ディーゼルエンジンの仕組みに夢中な人。

My husnband was glued his eyes to the diesel engine model for a while.

Very symbolic roundhouse platform and turntable.

テレビやネットでよく目にしていた扇形車庫と転車台。

動く蒸気機関車！動画を載せられないのが残念。

汽笛に心が躍ります～

苦肉の策のコマ送り。

We watched a demonstration that they feed the steamtrain with coal and water.

There were so many must-see sight and things and we enjoyed them from the bottom of our hearts.

If you are interested in trains, thisis the place to go！

他にも石炭や水の補給をするところも見ることができて、大興奮！

鉄道博物館、見どころがたくさんあって、夫さんと「値打ちあるねぇ～」と言い合いながらあちこち見て歩きました。

でも、一日じゃ足りません（苦笑）

あと、昨日書きそびれていたのですが（今更！）銀河鉄道展の方も、フォトスポットだけじゃなく（そりゃそうだ）、原画資料やキャラクターの顔の描きこみ指示など（どれだけメーテルのまつ毛に拘りがあったか、よく分かりました笑）

Kyoto Railway Museum 京都鉄道博物館へ

In the afternoon of this day, my husband and I visited Kyoto Railway Museum near Kyoto Station, which we always wanted to visit there!

この日の午後からは、場所を移して、以前から念願であった、京都鉄道博物館に参りました。

The main purpose is this exhibition of Galaxy Express 999! It's a alltime favorite animation of those who were kids in 1980's, including us.

目的はこちらの展覧会♡

子どもの頃からの憧れですよね〜

まずは999仕様のヘッドマークを着けた機関車がお出迎え。

The seat was a bit stiff. It must be so tough to travel for long distance on this seat all throught the journey from the earth to the Andromeda Galaxy.
