Summer Koyasan Memorial Rides 夏の高野山お参りツーリング

バイクの日に投稿した写真の日（ややこしい💦）、高野山にお墓参りに行きました。

お盆よりひと月早い七月のことです。

関西ではお盆は八月、旧盆にお参りをします。なので、以前は八月に行っていたのですが、昨年の八月が暑すぎて、今年は少しでもマシなうちに、と、七月に行くことにしました。

ちょびっとだけ早起きして出発。

この日通った道が本当に素敵で！

何度もカブを停めて写真ばかり撮るものだから、なかなか着かない（苦笑）

A while ago, we rode our motorcycles to Koyasan to visit my husband's family grave.
It was in July, about a month before the Bon Festival.
In Kansai, people usually visit graves during in August—the old Bon period.(8/13-8/16)
We used to go in August too, but last year was unbearably hot, so this year we decided to go earlier, while the weather was still a bit more bearable.

Woke up earlier than usual and Let's head out!

This time we took the local road which go through the mountain.

I couldn't resist to stop and take photos many times!

The forest path was so serene and beautiful — the green of the trees, the light spilling through the leaves, and the sound of the river all came together perfectly.

お山の上は少し曇りがちで、気温もマシでした。

I usually stay away from cold drinks, but in that kind of heat, ice was the only way to survive

ので、寄り道して、ファミリーマートでフラッペを半分こ。

生き返った〜

冷たい物は普段は摂らないようにしていますが、あの暑さの中では氷無しでは無理！

その後、ようやく帰り着いて、午後はもうバタンキューでした。

After that, we finally made it back home, and we completely crashed for the rest of the afternoon.

We need much more stamina for the next summer riding!

来年の夏も乗るならもっと体力つけなくてはと、強く思った令和八年の夏でした。

Dancing season has begun! 盆踊ら〜の夏が来た！

Do you know what?

Summer fun is not just playing in the water! The real joy of summer is... Dancing!

みなさまこんにちは。

こぎくでございます。

夏ですね。

若い頃の夏の楽しみは、もっぱら海と川でした。

今も海や川が好きな気持ちに変わりはありませんが、ここ何年も、夏の訪れとともに気持ちが高まるのは、なんと言っても盆踊り！

七月後半くらいから始まって、八月に入ると、週末だけにおさまらず、平日の夜もどこかで盆踊りが行われています。

一年ぶりの自作浴衣（帯留はやっぱり幽霊）

Bon dance festivals are taking place everywhere all through the summer.

I love Bon Dance so much though It’s disappointing that my stamina isn’t what it used to be.

But my passion is still alive, so I want to join the Bon dance festival in as many places as I can.

My first Bon dance of the year.

今年最初の盆踊りは、中央区の盆踊り。

こちらの櫓、昔は大きな大阪城の模型？が載せられていて、名物のようになっていたのですが、コロナ以降、お城がなくなりました。（広告見ていると、新しい大阪城をぽんっと載せてくださりそうなところばっかりなのにね）

夢中で踊ったあと、気付いたら背中に挿していた団扇が…

そして浴衣の背中が…

After dancing with all my energy, I noticed the uchiwa which I tucked in my back had broken, and my yukata had a stain on back...

Even so, dancing around the big Yagura always makes me feel wonderfully summery. 

Usually we do dance to Japanese folk songs called "Min-Yo", but recently it's become popular to play pop music and dance to them.

Here are some examples I've actually experienced so far.

Western music surprisingly goes well with Japanese Bon dance!

(実はこの曲知らなくて、友人と「最近の曲かなぁ」などと言っていたら、サビで二人声揃えて「聴いたことあるー！！」って笑）

コロナ禍の少し前くらいから、伝統的な民謡踊りのみならず、歌謡曲や洋楽で盆踊りするところが出てきました。

上に挙げたのは、実際に踊ったことがある曲たちです。

意外と合うのよー！

そしていつか参加したいのがコレ！

シェリーさん「ご本人呼びたい」って言ってはるけど、本当にご本人登場とかいう流れになったらどうしよう（笑）

Travel kimono log for two years 旅の着物

Looking back at my kimono coordinates on my journey.

みなさまこんにちは。

こぎくでございます。

二年分の振り返り。

旅に出た時の着録です。

First of all, the one I wore when I visited Tokyo National Museum two years ago to see "Special Exhibition Haniwa" with my old friend.

It was a striped pattern Ohshima kimono with an exotic design flower.

ふふふ。

昔の職場の友人とはにわ展に行ってきました。

いろんなはにわを満喫♡

たくさんのはにわ、桃かっぱちゃんなら狂喜乱舞に違いない（笑）

（なんのこっちゃな人には申し訳ない）

縞大島にエキゾチックな花柄の帯。

The reason I had picked this kimono was because the main purpose of my travel was seeing this play.

I chose it from the image of Shylock.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi starred in The Merchant of Venice.
Because of the nature of the play, I felt like wearing something dark.

The Merchant of Venice always leaves me with rather complicated feelings at the end.

Maybe it’s because of the way things are these days. but I keep wondering, Is that really the ‘right’ ending? My thoughts just keep spinning around.

なぜこのコーデにしたかと言うと。
大元の目的がこちらでした。

草彅剛さん主演の『ヴェニスの商人』

お芝居の内容から、黒っぽいものを着ようと思ったのでした。

ヴェニスの商人って、結末が少し複雑な気持ちになるのですよね。

今の時代だからそう感じるのかもしれませんが、それが正解なの？と、思考はぐるぐる回ります。

Now it's 2025!

Do you remember the frenzy of last summer!?

It was not a journey at all but kind of a small trip for us. 

I saw photos of many people enjoying the event in kimono and decided to go in kimono too!

But...

Heat and humidity levels were too high for us and my husband and I couldn't enjoy it at all.

(My husband was not wearing kimono that day, btw.)

Unbearable weather.

That's it.

That's our only impression of the event.

遠い昔のことのよう。

遠出ではないですが（ごく近場）

暑かったです。

着物で行かれていたみなさんのSNSを拝見して、いざ！と意気込んで参りました。

本格的に暑くなる前にと、６月末、夜のチケットで５時ごろ入場。

それでも暑かった…暑い記憶しかありません。

綿麻着物に夏帯で。

Cotton and linen mixed kimono and summer obi.

Well, we need to wear linen kimonos even in June nowadays.

暑かったといえば、こちらも暑かった記憶。

この展覧会と、東博で行われていた展覧会の梯子をしたくて。

And a linen kimono and summer obi for visiting two different museums in Tokyo last summer.
It was also hot but not too humid.

朝着物に夏帯で。

Guess what!?

I happened to stumble upon a Bon Odori event at a temple near the hotel where I was staying that very night!

What a lucky surprise!

My love for Bon Odori started to surge inside me.

そしたらなんと、泊まったホテルのすぐ近くで盆踊り！

盆踊ら〜の血が騒ぐ！

そんなことしてはしゃいでいたら、翌日の東博では暑さにバテてグッタリ。

駅から博物館までの道のりがキツかった…

夏の着物は難しくなりましたね。

And as a result, my visit to Tokyo National Museum turned to be practically hell.

Especially, the walk from the station to the museum really wore me out.

Japanese summer became really harsh for kimono fans, I think.

Next is another journey to Tokyo.
Once again, I went to see a stage play starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi.

さて、次もお江戸遠征です。

またまた草彅剛さん主演のお芝居を観に。

演出も舞台の作り方もしみじみ素敵。

静かな気持ちになるお芝居でした。

The direction and the way the stage was crafted were quietly beautiful—
it was the kind of performance that leaves you with a calm, reflective feeling.

For that day, I coordinated my outfit with a grass‑green Chirimen Tsumugi as the main piece, paired with two exotic floral patterns obis.

この時は草色のちりめん紬をメインに、エキゾチック花柄二つでコーディネート。

色味が全く違いますが、同じ着物です。

They look different but exactly the same one! Sorry ! I'm such a terrible photographer!

写真の撮り方下手過ぎてごめんなさい。

この時は、泊まったホテルから少し歩いたところに素敵な銭湯があると知り、せっかくなのでいそいそと。

関西人には少し熱めのお湯をいただきました。

風情のある素敵な銭湯。

また行けたらいいな。

At that time, I found out there was a lpublic bath just a short walk from the hotel I was staying at, so of course I hurried over.
I soaked in water that was a bit hotter than what we Kansai people used to.

 I really liked the building of this public bath. An atmospheric and quaint little bathhouse. Wish I could visit there again someday.

After writing bit by bit, I finally managed to finish one article.
It’s been quite a long road, but I’ll keep going and write the next one too.

Two years slipped away since then 二年前

Hi guys!

It's so hot recently, isn't it?

I remember that the summer of 2024 was as hot as this year.

(Home made plum nectar. It was really good for hot summer days )

（昨夏初めて作った梅ネクターは暑い夏にぴったりでした）

みなさまこんにちは。

こぎくでございます。

毎日暑いですね。

二年前の夏も暑かったなぁ…

ということで、少し振り返り。

2024年の夏、もうそろそろなんとかしなくちゃ、ということで、実家を売りに出すべく、残っていた荷物を、大きな家具を残して、ほとんどを整理しました。

大きな家具を残したのは、もし、買いたい人がいたら、という、今思えば全く要らぬ配慮。

Two years ago, I was trying to sell my parents' old wooden house. No one had lived for long and it had been getting tough for me to keep it in good condition. Mowing grass and cutting trees made our bodies completely exhausted.

So I made up my mind to sell the house finally!!

But before that, I needed cleaning up the house and getting rid of all the stuff that my parents had left behind when they moved out to the new place.

業者さんにお願いして、夫にも手伝ってもらい、熱中症に怯えつつ、暑い中2日間、不要品の片付け頑張ったー！

そして、いざ、和歌山市の空き家バンクに登録希望を出しましたら…見事に審査に落ち、ガックリ（涙）

市役所の職員さんと不動産屋さんが来て、これはちょっと…ということでした。

With help from a professional service and my husband, and while constantly worrying about heatstroke, we worked hard for two days in the sweltering heat to clear out the unwanted items!
Then, when I finally applied to register the property with the Wakayama City "vacant house bank"... I was flatly rejected. I was crushed.
City officials and a real estate agent came to inspect it, and their verdict was  "This is going to be a tough sell..."

そのあたりから仕事も立て込んできて、その少し前に時間の余裕を作るための工夫もしていたのに、せっかくの空いた時間もぼーっと過ごしてしまっていました。

時間って、何もしなくてもすごい勢いで流れていってしまうんですよね。

今までも何度も経験して嫌というほど分かっていますが。

ということで、実家は今もまだ残っています。

まぁまぁ頻繁に帰って、掃除やら草刈りやらが必須です。（去年、ようやく？いまさら？チェーンソーを入手！捗るわ〜）

まだまだ頑張ります。

Around that same time, my work started piling up. Even though I had made efforts to free up some time, I ended up just zoning out and wasting the spare moments I did have.

Time just slips away at a furious pace, even when you aren't doing anything at all.
It’s something I’ve experienced countless times before—I know it all too well.

So, the house is still there.
I have to go back quite frequently to handle things like cleaning and mowing the grass. (Last year—finally? better late than never?—I got a chainsaw! It makes the work go so much faster.)

Hello again！ またまた始めます

Well, it's been almost two years since my last post.

It's not that I got a serious illness or like that. I just couldn't handle things around myself. So don't worry about me!

I'm really bad at using my time wisely so I just couldn't have time to make articles for my blog.

みなさまご無沙汰しております。

こぎくでございます。

ほぼ２年のご無沙汰でございます。

何も書かずに放置してしまい、失礼いたしました。

特に大きな病気をしたとかではないので、ご心配には及びませぬ。

書きたい、記録しておきたい、という事柄は山盛りあったのに、時間のやり繰りが下手過ぎて、そして気持ちのゆとりの無さすぎて、文章を書くということが出来ませんでした。

In the end of spring, I started a new job and it allowed me to relax my mind and have some peaceful time of myself.

So... why not just re-start having fun with this blog!?

Tiny things from my kitchen, travel logs, and wonderful memories with friends.

 I'd love to share them with you here.

(Made some preserved foods of the early summer. Pickled ginger in sweet vinegar, and Plum syrup.)

（生姜の甘酢漬けと梅シロップ...今年も作ることができてホッ）

春に環境を変えまして、少し、時間と気持ちのゆとりが出てきました。

文章を書くことがさして上手い訳でもないのですが、これは楽しみでもあります。

ゆるゆるとにはなりそうですが、日々のちょっとしたことから、お出かけの記録など、書いていきたいと思います。
