I had tried Mochi pounding for the first time ever in my life!
I've seen it before many times. In my childhood, my grandpa and my dad had pounded sticky rice in a "Ishi-Usu"(mortar) and "Kine"(mallet/pestle) to prepare for the new year. When all sticky rice turned into one big mochi, then it was my mom and our turn to make it into small round mochi balls.
Good old memories of my childhood.
年末に、人生初の餅つきを体験しました！実際に搗いたんです！
餅つきって、今までは見るだけでした。
子供の頃は、実家で、祖父と父が石の臼と杵で餅を搗き、母と一緒に餅を丸めていたのですが。
そう言えば、長らく勤めた会社では、お正月明けの仕事始めの日は、取引先を招いての互礼会を催し、餅つきをするのが恒例でした。今も続いているのかな。
Now it's about my first experience of mochi pounding.
My favorite cafe in Minami-Motomachi, Anzu-ya, had set up an event of this Mochi pounding party.

Of course I din't want to miss this chance.

さて、初の餅つき！
アンズ舎さんが年末の餅つきを開催するというので、いそいそと参加してきました〜割烹着持参で！
It was the way too difficult than I had expected... I couldn't hit the right spot.
But with other members great effort, we could somehow make delicious mochi in the end.
杵を撃ち下ろすのって、思った以上に難しい〜真ん中に下ろさないと餅に当たらないし、臼が動いてしまうし、お相手にも迷惑をかけてしまうし（汗）
他のお客さんたちがたくさん頑張ってくださいました〜

たまたま通りかかった方も飛び入り参加して
(some passersby had jumped in and tried pounding too!)
Then, we made it into small pieces by hand.
次はお餅を丸めます〜
これは得意なやつですねん！

エビ餅に海苔巻き、蓬餅にきな粉とあんこ
小ぶりなみかんをあんこと一緒に包んでみかん大福
そして大根おろし
五つも食べてしまって…晩ごはんを食べられなかったですよ…
I ate five mochis on this day and couldn't eat anything after coming back home.
It was really a wonderful experience for me, even though I got a severe sore muscle next day...
お餅つき。
楽しく美味しく素晴らしい体験でした。
全身筋肉痛まっしぐらでしたけどね（笑）
